*The Affenpinscher breed, a direct ancestor to the Griffon, is a frail dog weighing between 7 and 8 pounds. It is called the "Monkey Dog" because the prominent chin, hair tufts on its forehead and face, and large round bright eyes give it a monkeyish expression.

Germany.

*Nickname: Monkey Dog.


*Description: Alert...intelligent...sturdy...very demanding of attention...high-strung...nervous...timid...yappy...
affectionate towards family members.


*Behavior: Behavior problems may include excessive barking, dominance challenges to people it sees as submissive, house soiling, excessively demanding behavior, irritable snapping, and aggressiveness when a threat is perceived. Some may nervously guard small objects, toys or food. The breed is sensitive to cold and trembles a lot.

Affenpinschers are somewhat territorial when it comes to their toys and food, so they are not recommended for very small children.
